About the art
Artist statement
This work belongs to my Meditation Series in which I explore what it means to be in a meditative state while painting. During making of the work, I eliminated all the exterior elements such as music and sound, and visual distractions; instead, I wholeheartedly observed the ebbs and flows of my thoughts from within – without any judgment and analysis – in an attempt to truly embody the concept of being “in the moment.” Despite my sincere effort, this particular piece expresses frustration at my inability to accept, allow and release my thoughts and thinking process rather than to control and judge. The process of creating this work involved first gluing several layers of paper then peeling them in a horizontal movement once surface dried sufficiently.
