About the art
Artist statement
A participant is invited to freely crumple a sheet of paper, leaving natural creases behind. The artist uses these creases as a reference, marking all the intersection points where the folds meet. Inspired by the binary deduction model from the worldview of the I Ching (Book of Changes), the artist evenly divides the surface into sections. Within each section, the number of crease intersections is counted: even numbers are marked as "0" and odd numbers as "1," creating a modern digital binary sequence. This sequence is then decoded using the ASCII code table in computer programming, resulting in readable characters—Chinese characters or letters—that become the artwork's title. This approach represents an artistic expression based on the digital evolution model of modern technology, culminating in the paper-based Heavenly Secrets series.
Trace traces on crumpled paper and interpret them. The surface is resin.
