Artist statement
The artistic project, which I coined during my art residency in Jyvaskyla (Finland) on May 2016, is an attempt to depict a re-creation of nature after winter calmness. The process of revival of nature considerably speeds up in May as daylight becomes significantly longer. I wandered to seven places in around the town of Jyvaskyla and picked up dead plants that are typical for that location. I placed them on
a fabric-soaked mixture of ferric ammonium citrate and exposed them to sunshine accordingly. As an outcome of this process, I have gotten series of seven cyanotypes of intensive blue. Each of them represents an attempt to preserve a very unique moment of light process, which takes place in the daytime and in certain environments. Each work says the exact date, time, and geographical position.
