New Bahru presents Now Now 2025!

When We Were Together by Akai Chew

New Bahru is proud to present, Now Now, a public showcase featuring 6 photographic works from rising and established Singapore-based creatives, who helm this visual medium. Presented in the form of striking billboards, these amplified images form a bold yet intimate tapestry of fossilised moments, thoughtfully placed in various indoor and outdoor spaces around the development.

In this edition of New Bahru’s public art commissions, Lavender Chang (b.1983), Jovian Lim (b.1984), Sean Lee (b.1985), KHOOGJ (b.1985), Akai Chew (b.1987) and Liu Liling (b.1993), share their diverse practices across Photography, Architecture and Fine Arts. Together, they present a zeitgeist lens on Singapore’s here and now. Their works offer tender glimpses of people in this city, drawing our attention to overlooked spaces beneath highway flyovers and through concrete corridors, while capturing the evanescence of a gentle Singapore sunrise and the ripe florescence of our tropical flora.

This year-long exhibition, curated by Artist Dawn Ng (b.1982), whose practice focuses on time, memory and the ephemeral, is part of New Bahru’s unwavering support of local creatives and will involve an artist panel on 1st March 2025.

“Local artists are an essential part of our community at New Bahru. When we support their work, we're not just celebrating their creativity—we're investing in stories that make our city that much more colourful. It's about giving them the space to be bold and helping our culture grow in exciting ways,” says Tania Chan, Chief Marketing Officer of The Lo & Behold Group.
