From December 5 to 8, the city of Miami will transform into a hub for contemporary art when Art Basel Miami Beach 2024 returns for its 22nd edition. Featuring works from leading galleries worldwide, the fair also offers exhibitions, talks, and programming celebrating art, design, and innovation.
Set against Miami’s sparkling beaches, the event becomes both an artistic and tropical escape. Whether you’re a collector or a newcomer, the Artling's guide highlights the must-see events during Art Basel Miami Beach 2024 that will make your visit unforgettable.
Art Basel Miami Beach 2024
Held at the Miami Beach Convention Center showcasing 283 galleries from 34 countries, this year's event will include 32 first-time participants. Under the new leadership of director Bridget Finn, the prestigious fair will see modern masterpieces, contemporary works, large-scale sculptures and performances.
The event features curated sectors including Galleries, showcasing top international works, Nova, debuting recent creations, Positions, spotlighting emerging talent, Survey, exploring art history with pre-2000 works, and Meridians, presenting large-scale installations and performances by artists like Danh Vō and Franz West.

Art Fairs
Founded in 2012, Untitled Art is a leading contemporary art fair held annually on the sands of Miami Beach. With a mission to support the broader art ecosystem, it provides an inclusive platform for discovering contemporary art while fostering collaboration across all aspects of the fair.

Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami 2024
Spectrum Miami offers a dynamic experience with curated programs highlighting international artists, industry professionals, and non-profits. Attendees can engage with site-specific works, performances, and exhibitions reflecting Miami's vibrant art scene. Featured programs include Art Labs, the Spotlight Program, Directors’ Picks, and the Discoveries Collection, showcasing innovation and creativity in contemporary art.

This 20th edition embraces the curatorial theme, Blue Sky. Curated by Glenn Adamson and celebrating bold imagination and innovation in design, the fair features collectible design galleries, special projects, curios, and collaborations that explore design as experimental, risk-taking, and optimistic. Design Miami 2024 tells the story of design—past, present, and future—under one shared sky.

SCOPE Art Show, a premier contemporary art event, has been a dynamic platform for emerging galleries and artists for over 20 years. This year's show will highlight cutting-edge trends and influential ideas, attracting a broad audience from first-time visitors to seasoned collectors.

NADA Miami (New Art Dealers Alliance)
In its 22nd edition, this contemporary art fair is known for its diverse and innovative art, featuring a wide array of mediums that include painting, sculpture, photography, video, installation, and performance art. This year's fair will showcase over 150 galleries, art spaces, and nonprofit organizations from 37 countries and 66 cities.

Exhibitions
The Bass, Miami Beach’s contemporary art museum, showcases international contemporary art with a focus on mid-career and established artists that reflect the city’s vibrant and global character. Its exhibitions blend contemporary culture with disciplines like design, fashion, and architecture.
Its current exhibitions include Rachel Feinstein: The Miami Years (on view now through 17 August 2025), (LA)HORDE: Heureux sous son ombre (on view till 27 April 20250, and Ulla von Brandenburg: In Dialogue (on view through 6 July 2025).

Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) North Miami
This museum showcases contemporary art and its historical influences through exhibitions, educational programs, and collections. It engages a wide range of audiences by celebrating diverse voices and fostering cultural connections through its inclusive environment, inspiring a lasting appreciation for the arts.
One of its current exhibitions is Andrea Chung: Between Too Late and Too Early. The artist delves into the Caribbean's history of slavery, colonialism, and modern challenges like climate change and tourism. Chung's largest solo museum survey to date features vibrant collages and objects made from shifting materials like sugar, reimagining archival images to reveal complex narratives. Concurrently, Smita Sen's exhibition offers insight into her holistic approach to the body and its representation over time.

Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) is a world-class museum for modern and contemporary art, focusing on the collection and exhibition of international works from the 20th and 21st centuries.
One of its current exhibitions include Calida Rawles: Away with the Tides (through till 2 February 2025). Artist Calida Rawles uses water as a symbol of Black healing and reimagines the African American community through hyperrealistic, poetic abstract portraits of Black bodies submerged in vibrant waters, blending physical and spiritual healing with historical trauma for her first museum solo exhibition. The Rubell Museum in Miami showcases one of the most significant contemporary art collections, featuring over 7,700 works by 1,000+ artists. It's well-known for supporting emerging talent, offering expansive galleries, special exhibitions, and educational programs.
Three new exhibitions debuting during Miami Art Week 2024 include works by the 2024 Knight Foundation-supported artist-in-residence Vanessa Raw, a showcase of Recent Acquisitions, and a fresh installation of the Museum’s renowned Collection Highlights.

Institute of Contemporary Art Miami
The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) champions innovation in contemporary art, offering a global platform for emerging and under-recognized artists through dynamic exhibitions, programs, and its collection. It's committed to providing public access to art excellence so it's free to visit the museum year-round.
Its latest highlight is Keiichi Tanaami: Memory Collage which marks the artist's first US solo museum exhibition. Keiichi Tanaami (1936–2024) was a pioneering figure in Japanese and global Pop art, known for his immersive, multimedia works that explored the cultural dynamics of post-war America and Japan over a seven-decade career. The exhibition runs till 30 March 2025.

Faena Art will feature a monumental site-specific installation by Tlingit/Unangax̂ artist Nicholas Galanin. The piece, titled Seletega (run, see if people are coming), is a 40-foot-high sculpture depicting the masts and sails of a Spanish galleon emerging from the sand at Faena Beach. Other highlights include a new artwork from philosophical artist, Lyra Drake at the Faena Cathedral, and an exhibition by Marina Abramović titled Nomadic Journey and Spirit of Places, inviting audiences to explore over 40 years of her drawings, poetry, photographs and reflections.

Two new exhibitions will be happening during Miami Art week, highlighting experimental contemporary art. Cuban artist Alexandre Arrechea's Herramienta Desnuda (Bare Tool) features an installation exploring themes of labor and creativity, while Miami-based Alba Triana debuts a commissioned work titled Dialogue with the Primordial Sea, which merges art and science to engage with natural phenomena.

One of the more popular installations for visitors to Art Basel Miami is the Great Elephant Migration, a public art installation in Miami Beach, featuring 100 life-sized wooden elephants. The elephants, created by indigenous artisans from India’s Nilgiri Hills uses invasive Lantana weed, symbolically representing the journey of Asian elephants and their cohabitation with local communities. The exhibition is a part of a larger U.S. tour, highlighting the importance of protecting migratory animals and fostering respect for wildlife.

No Vacancy is a juried art competition that celebrates local artists while encouraging critical discourse and transforming iconic Miami Beach hotels into temporary art destinations. In it's fifth edition, this year's competition will feature 12 artists creating site-specific installations at 12 Miami Beach hotels.
