Artist statement
The Loch series explores positive and negative space by introducing penetrations in solid blocks of stacked-laminated wood. The choice of white pine wood, a 'soft' wood used primarily in home construction, places an emphasis on lightness and transition, movement and play. The pine's pronounced grain reveals dense grids of shifting patterns as the surfaces twist and undulate.
