Artist statement
Today the earth’s biodiversity is being lost at an alarming rate. Design has the power to communicate ideas and transform the way we understand the contexts around us. The diversity of the natural environment, food and locally sourced materials are brought together in the realisation of functional 3D printed artefacts. The aim of my work is to create awareness of the origin of materials, shapes and contexts. The 3D printing process enables the production of unique series. Through their use, the products create an aesthetic connection to their original material. In this process, nature becomes a central element of design.
