Drawing inspiration from nature and ceramics, this piece evokes the columned stalks of mushrooms or tree trunks to create a functional, emotional object. The piece is comprised of two columns cojoined in a poetic embrace, one standing tall while the other lights the way. Each piece is hand-made from a computer-generated template. This mix of both traditional and modern techniques lend the piece its own unique variation and personality. These expressive objects are as much sculptural as they are functional, offering an escape from mass-produced standardization. They can function as a statement side or accent table, or even be sat on while blurring the lines between furniture and applied art. The piece was completely made in UAE using locally available materials and can be customized.
