‘’A COLORFUL DREAM’’ is about a dream that I have been trying to chase since I was a child; becoming a designer, maker, artist. To this day, I don’t identify myself with any of these yet. But what I learned is how to express a story or feeling by creating an object. In this project, I present my own version of classic furniture pieces, like a chair, desk lamp, and stool, forming the grounding for the designer I aspire to be. With this as a starting point, in my making process, I emphasized on the elements that make a piece of furniture recognizable: angles, colors, and playfulness. Since I make everything by hand, I am absorbed in the creative process as a methodology, and allow the objects to take on a life of their own. Sometimes this results in a new story narrated by the object. For example, uneven and unbalanced legs release the chair from materiality, function, and design, as if it could almost walk away.
