TROPICAL DEPRESSION is a solo show by Fi - Sofía Alvarado (Panama, 1984).

In a pure state of consciousness, life is simple.
The understanding of the metaphor that the language of nature gives us the answers, if we are able not to interfere with the message. Does nature think? For what purpose does nature exist? All science has as its sole objective to find a theory of nature. Few adults are able to see her in the eye. Most people do not see the sun. The nature lover is one who has preserved the spirit of childhood in his maturity. The observation of the degradation in shape, texture and color of tropical plants in conjunction with the imagination, they created possible silhouettes, defined a palette of colors and materials, which in a kind of game became something more. The eye observed and the mind twisted and recreated it in its own way. In a metaphorical way, this exhibition touches on the theme of maturity, depression of the mind and body. From this state of consciousness where you understand that being is the purest. That art is freedom, that freedom is life, and that life is art. That dictates the spirit of nature. Losing color, dying, and resurrecting.

FI is an ornamental artist who embodies the creative revelation of the sensitivity of the innate being, with uninhibited freedom by proposing a global universe between furniture, objects, scenery, sculpture, drawing, painting and letters. Inspired by the poetry that gives life, nature, the accuracy of imperfection, history, architecture, dreams, time and everything that educates beyond reason; transforms feelings and thoughts into stories to later create physically palpable pieces and scenarios by merging design with art, a principle that allows her to experiment with shapes, materials and color combinations, using all kinds of geometries, which manage to represent situations of an imagined reality. Sofia Alvarado, founder of Fi, is an architect and designer with the sensitivity necessary to recognize that sustainability is only possible where all actors prosper and human rights are respected, so the ideology of the study is based on the concept of Human Design, which promotes detailed work, integral design of things and efficiency on a human scale, in a tribute to Latin american hand made craft that has been suggested for years by the insecurity of ignorance. It uses technology but does not abandon the artisans, mainly it dignifies them and empowers, so that they appropriate their work to the fullest, and thus achieve luxury artisans. All pieces made in Fi are hand made in Panama by single / unique or limited edition,either under collection or to design to order.
