Artist statement
The Bubble Bling table lamp combines the techniques of handblown glass without the use of a mold and a contemporary application of stained glass. Gabriel Lichauco referenced the radical spirit of Czech Cubism. He created a pattern that features an animated illustration of a crystal shape containing diamonds and other gems meant to appear 3D. The handblown bubble is unusually large: not all glass studios are capable of creating a bubble of this size. Lichauco was able to showcase the skill of the glass masters he was working with.
