About the art
Artist statement
"Hutan is Indonesian for Forest -
a theme that resonates with me growing up with a father in the timber industry. He was a timber entrepreneur. My father worked hard to support his six children. I am grateful and indebted to his labor of love, and I know that we have taken a lot from Mother Nature. Threadapeutic is my way of giving back, my labor of love made possible through my father." - Hana Surya
This tapestry is an adaptation of a virgin forest in the Java island photographed by Cipto who is a friend of Threadapeutic.
Handcrafted by Threadapeutic Artisans
Made of 3.3 kg of fabric waste from local garment factories and boutiques - fabric offcuts and leftover interior textiles in greens, yellows, reds, browns, beiges, blues, purples, whites
Comes with a seamless loop to insert a hanging pole
