About the art
Artist statement
April is a handbuilt vessel with tiny handles made out of red earthernware clay.
Coated with a clear glaze on the inside, no glaze on the outside.
Perfect on its own or with a small bouquet.
This series of work is all about exploring the classic shapes and colors; the outer side is left bare on purpose. I love the feel of unglazed clay and all the details which it holds - all the fingermarks, tiny shiny particles which can only be seen under bright daylight, the color of the clay itself.
