About the art
Artist statement
The universe moves in waves, and the movements of our own oceans reflect the forces which govern all of time and space. Such waves, and such forces, are governed and dictated by the laws of physics - and yet art is nothing if not transcendent, and laws are nothing if not breakable. This Oceana Bowl may have been designed using the converging frequencies of ocean waves, and yet it injects data with the surreal and speculative, imbuing realism with the imaginary, the impossible, and the sublime.
To produce a piece like this, the artist must utilize a wide array of techniques and data more akin to the realm of science and mathematics than art. 3D printed resin gives way to a unique hand finished texture, with the cool matte black contrasting the silvery inner reflections of this magnificent piece. Resin itself is endlessly malleable and dynamic, giving rise to a fully-manifested vision of movement, one which captivates the viewer while showcasing the craftsmanship of its design and creation.
