It’s tempting to imagine that order and chaos sit at opposite sides of a complex spectrum; the former inherently beautiful, the latter too complex to comprehend. However, it is in the emergence of order from chaos - the seeking out of patterns and correlations within the unfathomable - where the most thrilling of new aesthetics arise.

Just as a traditional artist uses their brushes and paints, and just as a sculptor manipulates clay or casts in bronze, my process of creation is one centred upon the point at which my ideas, my imagination, and the tools I choose to use conjoin. My computers and my software are, after all, tools which belong to the same unbroken thread as the paintbrush and the chisel, and they provide the infinite possibilities in which I play, experiment, and create.

In place of oils and canvas, I have simulations which run in parallel worlds. In place of clay, or marble, or molten gold, I have algorithms that determine how light bends through a prism of impossible material, or how a piece of cloth might flutter when released into an unknowable atmosphere. The computer is, at its essence, my tool of choice for my artistic expressions. In that sense, I identify its importance, highlight its potency, and appreciate its vital place in the realm of contemporary creativity.

For me, happiness, satisfaction, and artistic motivation are easily obtained. It takes nothing more than being able to reach those who might truly appreciate my output, who show interest in my creations, and thus drive me to deepen my explorations.
