About the art
Artist statement
Part of my 'Future Fossils' collection, a collection highlighting extinction threat to British birds. This collection relies on the similarity in the appearance of fossils to ceramic sprigs. This tall vase features Skylarks, Shags and different size ammonite designs on the front and the back, and is oval at the base and rim. The design on both sides is convex. It is slip cast from stained Parian slip (Parian is form of porcelain). It's colour is a muted green. I have designed and made the mould that the vase is created from. While primarily intended for display, the vase will hold water if you wish. All items in my 'Future Fossils' collection will group well with each other, allowing you to build a collection of your choice.

I am a designer-maker working in ceramics. I have spent many years as a freelance Illustrator and now use my illustration skills to carve my drawings in clay. I make plaster moulds and slip cast in porcelain or parian. I reference Wedgwood’s Jasperware, combining sprigged work with contemporary shapes.
