Moonwalk on the Silver Record

: the Meme Design of Reality



On April 26, 2021,

the initial idea was to imprint the first human footprint on the Moon, left by Buzz Aldrin, onto a vertically sliced white moon jar with an attached pipe frame.



However, since the moon jar is too common, I decided to put the idea on hold.



On April 30, 2024,

I reimagined this idea by parodying the "Voyager's Golden Record", creating what I called the 'Silver Record'.

I imprinted Buzz Aldrin's footprint onto a stainless steel, moon jar-shaped plate, the Silver Record.



At the bottom, I attached legs inspired by the Space-Age style of Achille Castiglioni’s design, aiming to create an object that could communicate humanity's moon landing to extraterrestrial beings—a moon jar-shaped 'Silver Record spacecraft'.



On September 3, 2024,

while senior colleagues initially opposed the production, I decided to proceed with it.

Surprisingly, the CEO of @kkangtong_chef, as a maker of this project, made and gifted a white version of this design to me. Thanks to this gift, I fortunately got my original idea—a white moon jar with Buzz Aldrin's footprint—in a modified form.
