About the art
Artist statement
When exhibiting the 13° 60° 104° decanter, a visitor asked if it tipped over on its own (which it does not - the drinker must lean it over). Jim took this as a challenge to create a container that does lean over autonomously as the level of liquid contained reduces. Having already released a decanter, this container could be proportioned to hold a flower, where it poetically takes on the behaviour of the stem by leaning over, over time.
The crystal vase is mouth blown into a wooden mould in the Czech Republic, in the Giant Mountains of Bohemia. It has been exhibited at '1000 Vases' in Dubai in 2019, MAISON&OBJET in Paris in 2015 and ICFF in New York 2015 and the London Design Fair in 2019.
"A lovely idea that functions well and is wonderfully poetic thanks to the play of balance involved. The overall design of the vases radiates elegance and high quality."
