Artist statement
Acrylic side table
Ripple is a side table that aims to evoke nature in a domestic environment. It captures the moment of raindrops falling into the lake by engaging use with movement. The tabletop swings as more weight is added on the top, yet the table retains its stability.
Traditional Chinese architecture emphasizes on the balance between human and nature. In history, Chinese often built courtyards with living water and false mountain to create energy flow inside of the house. Ripple Table is intended to reinterpret the tradition and explores its contemporary meanings.
