Artist statement
“ABYSS” armchair in mint and ocean blue velvet
When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you.
The abyssal zone or abyssopelagic zone is a layer of the pelagic zone of the ocean. "Abyss" derives from the Greek word ἄβυσσος , meaning bottomless. At depths of 3,000 to 6,000 metres (9,800 to 19,700 ft), this zone remains in perpetual darkness. It covers 83% of the total area of the ocean and 60% of Earth's surface.
Looking to the depths of the ocean to dream up a dramatic new armchair, that introduces the majesty of the big blue to the interior.
Like all of KABINET’s designs, the Abyss Armchair is a conversation piece as much as a functional one. This new design is concerned with depth and creates a geological cross-section as mesmerising as the ocean.
This product is handmade to order by local artisans and in-house craftsmen, using ethically sourced materials, so please allow 8 - 12 weeks for delivery.
