Artist statement
Lightness of Being is a series of sculptures and vessels hand-woven from copper wire. Metal is often perceived as cold, hard, and heavy material. However, when woven from its flexible wire form, it has the potential to produce extremely light, buoyant volumes. The series seeks to capture the ephemerality of existence. The translucency of these works remind us that everything is temporal, much like the fading of bubbles.
