About the art
Artist statement
Flora was originally created as a residential commission for a client who expressed a deep connection with mathematics and the Fibonacci sequence in particular. Every aspect of this piece from the curvature to the width:height ratio to the fact that it has eight petals all derive from the Fibonacci sequence so readily found in nature. That the final form resembles a flower is just the natural outcome of following this special numeric relationship.
