Artist statement
The Merchicken is a remake of Lilianna's first fantastical figure done in brass in 2012. This limited edition series consists of hand painted bone china, adorned in patterns and colors to highlight the material and illustrate the joys of life. It is a nostalgic object based on an animal collection of her grandmother that she used to go back to as a child, fascinated each time.
The Merchicken is a creature of joy and celebrates the surprises and wonder in the mundane and is a perfect object to keep going back to to get that daily dose of wonder.
