Artist statement
Our company is a big fan of wabi-sabi style. It’s a Japanese philosophy that finds beauty in imperfection. What is the story behind smooth forms? What can straight lines tell? Nothing, they are empty. And what if the lamp is imprinted with time, and handwriting of the master, and a soul? You feel it immediately because space transforms into the home, filled with the energy of the things with history and significance, with an inside story.
Miata is a wabi-sabi lamp. It seems like it is hundreds of years old. It seems like time has reflected on its surface, leaving the imprints of all the winds and suns coming around. Indeed, it was just created in this way. Because the light inside doesn’t care about the outer.
