Artist statement
Vulyk lamp is a hive of light inspired by childhood memories. When Sergey Makhno was a kid, his favorite trips were the ones to the village with a small clay-walled hut hidden among the curly woods, and granny sitting on the bench. In the garden, there were wooden behives with thatch roofs. They were coated in the buzzing and the smell of red-ripe apples. Sergey thought that bees were granny’s neighbors — so she was never alone.
