Artist statement
Klassiker is a lounge chair inspired by the structure and concept of Korean traditional A-frame carrier, known as ji-gae, and it was developed based on a modernistic perspective.
Similar to the structure of ji-gae, Klassiker is designed to effectively support weight even with a simple system. The tension of the extended front and rear legs and the stability of oval-shaped wooden support create an elaborate balance in design.
The A-frame structure on the back of the support is delicately designed for its durability and the aesthetic expression of the classical ji-gae structure. The chair was further refined upon the application of modern design.
