Artist statement
The Nested Petals consist of three exquisite vessels that can be showcased individually or grouped together, radiating an aura of timeless elegance wherever they are placed. Crafted with the utmost care, these porcelain marvels serve multiple purposes; whether they cradle vibrant blossoms, gracefully hold a pillar candle, or captivate as standalone sculptures, they are destined to become cherished heirlooms, treasured for generations to come.
The French Blue Nested Petals have a gradient of colour throughout the vessels. The outer vessel is the lightest tone transitioning to the deepest hue vessel in the centre. A colour pigment is tinted to the body at the liquid slip stage to provide colour depth.
Clear glaze is then applied to the interior of each vessel leaving the exterior with a vitrified stone-like surface that becomes smooth with handling.
Handcrafted in New Zealand.
