About the art
Artist statement
This is the traditional coffee pot (Dala) redesigned in a modern yet classic reinterpretation. Commonly served to guests, who generally are held in high esteem, as part of the focus on hospitality and generosity, both pillars of the local traditions. The heptagonal design draws inspiration from the seven Emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates.
The calligraphy used:ولما اليد اليمنى تعطي اليسرى.. ما ضاع شيء (When the right hand gives the left, nothing is lost)
is a phrase that reflects brotherhood and portrays cooperation in a positive light.
