Made of solid wood; all joinery hand-cut. Choice of: Rosewood and Maple, American Walnut and Maple or Ash and Maple.
The asanoha pattern is an abstract, geometric representation of over-lapping hemp leaves. Hemp is a traditional agriculture product in Japan and were used to make commodities such a paper, ropes, clothing and baskets in the past. As a durable and fast-growing plant, the pattern is associated with ideas of growth and health.
The idea first came about as a heirloom gift for a child, as the choice of the asanoha pattern on a keepsake box is meant to explore the idea of wishing the child good health and growth. However, it can also be used for storing jewelry, watches or other precious, beloved items.
