Artist statement
Terra is one of 3 pieces from the award winning* furniture collection 'Primitive Forms': a project translating the humble nature and processes of working with clay [ceramics], into furniture design.
Terra stool/side table reflects the cylindrical form, suggestive of the majority of ceramic vessels.
- Terra stool is turned from white beech, finished in a way to preserve the woods raw natural look.
- The name 'Terra' was chosen for its origin, meaning earth; fundamentally what raw clay material is. When expanded to terracotta, the name evokes the image of its colour and common use in ceramics.
