Artist statement
In collaboration with Sughara, we developed a glass tealight holder that would be beautiful in both day and nighttime. The combination of a strong and simple geometric composition of a gently tapering cone for the base, and sphere at the top that rests in a recess, the tealight holder expresses the lightness of the glassware and showcases the different techniques of production.
The cone base is produced in a blue/grey glass with a more solid colour tone towards the top. The sphere is a simple transparent mouth-blown ball, with a graduated sandblasted finish, in which the tea-light sits.
Glowball was designed by Takenouchi Webb, and produced by Sugahara Glassworks.
