Artist statement
We inhabit a world that is becoming more and more industrialized, a world where the natural is in a perpetual battle with the industrialized as green spaces are continuously submerged in and attacked by manmade infrastructures. With this in mind, designer Tamara Barrage pays tribute to and immortalizes a state of nature in her collection named “A state of nature.”
Tamara Barrage has always been infatuated with nature’s perfection and its intricate designs and, therefore, decided to highlight those elements in a project located at the intersection of the artificial and the natural.
Having grown up in a room overlooking an abundant collection of bougainvillea bushes for most of her life, Tamara used this particular plant as her inspiration and created a number of household objects that feature the bougainvillea flower engulfed in transparent resin.
A light, a tray, a vase, a mirror… all come together to celebrate the florescence, abundance, and beauty of nature's designs.
