About the art
Artist statement
The artist Unzan, who uses ‘wabori’ and forging techniques to make artworks that have originality and a rich design, when designing he gets lost in the design and time become irrelevant.
‘Original Design’ arises from pure handmade patterns implemented by traditional ancient art techniques and tools.
Every single metalworking creation of Kyoto Zuihodo is a product of tens of thousands of times of burning and hammering by hands of skilful professional.
Every pattern line of our original design is engraved with great delicacy in our metalworking arts, and you can see them in the “Artistic Beauty” by virtue of those impeccable patterns. They are the perfect performance of remarkable artistic creations. In fact, these complex pattern lines are impossible to be reproduced by any ordinary craftsman, whose metal works cannot be compared.
