Artist statement
Winner of Elle Deco International Design Award 2020, Ring Capital is a collection of earthenware designed to retain the playfulness of an everyday activity by provoking interaction between the user and the object. It tries to enrich the physical and emotional experience of the user by creating an alternative way of looking.
Ring Capital derives its’ name from its potential to look like an abstraction of a city when massed on the table. The pieces of the same size can be easily mounted up creating a symmetric tower of rings. This gives the user a release to create their own utopia while waiting for the food or just as a jolly exercise.
The white glazed interior allows the ease of cleaning while the exposed terracotta exterior stands to its contrast. Multiple coils with the natural gritty texture of terracotta give each piece a better hold.
The clay used for the project has been sourced locally and each piece is made individually on the wheel.
