Artist statement
One of the peculiarities of the project is the material - Brazilian natural stone - AMETHYST CRYSTAL - very resistant and tough material (only 1 cm of thickness) that conveys a sense of depth and a warm welcome, with simplicity and sophistication being the concepts to keep in mind. Designing this piece Yulia Pyanzina was focusing on Zen Buddhism, in particular on Zen aesthetic principles identified by simplicity, asymmetry, austere sublimity, naturalness, freedom from routine, tranquillity, profound grace.
