I was born and raised in Michoacán Mexico, from where I moved to the state of Jalisco to study at the school of Architecture at ITESO University in Guadalajara. I've always had an interest in the expressions that different shapes can represent, I've worked with furniture, textiles, buildings and have done different interventions to paintings. The exploration of all those different areas brought me to my passion. I currently work with clay, to which I apply vinyl paint, gold leaf and wax amongst other materials. My work evolves around the environment, sounds, emotions and art.
My studio is located in a small city in Jalisco Mexico known for its artisans and the process they use to work clay. My work combines this artisanal process with a contemporary style, I have a close relationship with the craftsman who provide all the knowledge and different ancestral techniques, I provide a new perspective to this beautiful work.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the combination of natural elements, artisanal traditions, contemporary art, audio visuals and architecture.
Describe your creative process.
I start by gathering materials, images and past experiences from my memory and let my mind wander. I then work on samples using different materials, color combinations and techniques, to be able to then create final samples. After that, I finally start working on the piece that will bring my idea to life to finalize my design.
