Invention Collection

Steph Woods, also known as Invention Collection, is a ceramic artist and designer currently based in Brisbane, Queensland. Steph completed a Bachelor of Fine Art (Visual Arts) at the Queensland University of Technology in November 2017. Her work is a homage to personal experiences, gestures and sentimental values.

'My mother has always treasured old cake tins, porcelain cups, and quirky teapots. So, from a young age, I developed an understanding of sentimentality and value in handmade or unusual. She taught me the value of objects, which has encouraged me to only purchase things that I have a strong connection with. This childhood love for interesting objects founded my appreciation for the handmade. This is reflected through my process-driven practice with hand-built ceramics, as it is a window into my morals and understanding of possessions.’
