JinSik Kim is a designer who opened Studio JINSIK KIM in 2013 in Seoul, a multiple design studio based on design, sculpture and art direction. He is interested in the boundary between life and objects with people, and focuses more on the essence of materials, forms and creative thinking. Ultimately, his goal with design is to wake up people’s pureness in the bottom of brain and heart, called as 'functional sculpture'. He worked for Herme to design window display in Korea. With Christofle, French silver specialist from 1830, Clivage collection was selected as a permanent collection for the brand, which have been exhibited at Victoria and Albert museum as part of ‘What is luxury?’ in 2015. He exhibited family lamp design ‘Spot’ for Baccarat at Baccarat Highlight 2013 in Milan. Lastly, B30/35 Lamps are selected by Domus magazine as Best of Concrete works. The personal work 'HalfHalf collections' has been collected by Gallery Seomi in USA. In 2016, he release One Point as a part of Wallpaper* handmade 2016, collaborating with Bolon, Cuellar and ANUN factory.
He graduated from a Master of Advanced Studies in Design for Luxury & Craftsmanship at ECAL/ University of art and design in Lausanne in 2013, Switzerland, and studied in MA Contextual Design at Design Academy Eindhoven before going to Switzerland. He has successfully proceeded collaboration projects with internationally recognized brands, such as Christofle, Baccarat, Hermes, Nestle and Aesop. Moreover, he exhibited his works in different fairs like Design Miami, Salone del Mobile, Maison & Objet, New York Design week and Victoria and Albert museum. He won at interieur awards 2016 in Belgium and unique youngstars 2016 in Germany. His works have released on magazines in 20 countries, such as Wall Street Journal, Wallpaper*, intramuros, Domus, Frame and AD Choice.
