ebastian Scherer was born in 1975 in Aachen, Germany where he studied Product Design at the University of Applied Sciences. After his graduation in 2004, Scherer moved to Berlin and worked as an interior designer. In 2009 his work as a furniture designer was first recognised when he won the Special Award at the International Promosedia Design Competition for his X-Chair. Sebastian Scherer Studio was founded in 2010 and it was during this year that the designer developed the Aluminium Series, which attracted international attention. In 2012 his Aluminium Table was nominated for the Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. In 2014 Scherer won the grand prize Lexus Design Award for the prototype of his iridescent crystal lamp, Iris. Neo/Craft, Scherer's new furniture label, was introduced at the IMM Cologne in January 2015 and has since been exhibited on many exhibitions in Europe. The brand's multiple-award-winning debut collection is comprised entirely of Scherer's own designs. All of Neo/Craft's pieces are produced in Germany and distributed worldwide. The label has consciously chosen the production of smaller series and custom-made objects.
