Studio Kali is an award-winning multidisciplinary design studio from Istanbul, founded by Fulden Topaloglu in November 2018. The studio works in the fields of product, furniture and packaging design, as well as offering creative consultancy to brands and private clients.
Additionally, beginning with 2019, Studio Kali launched its first product collection, embarking upon the desire to create a meaningful and inspirational brand for living spaces.
Studio Kali’s product collection specifically comes to life at the boundaries of craft, art and modern design, having a strong focus on craftsmanship, sustainability and timelessness.
Produced in small batches and handmade by skilled craftsman, the products in the collection aim to reinterpret traditional craft techniques with a modern aesthetic, in order to carry their wisdom and sensibilities to contemporary life. The products utilize natural materials like wood, metal and wool, and are designed with a deep love for art, craft and nature, often reflecting inspirations coming from the Mediterranean spirit and geography.
“At Kali, we are after creating a world where arts, crafts, culture and nature unite through design. With our work and our products, we want to whisper poetry, sense of wonder and inspiration to your everyday life...”
What inspires you?
The cultural and geographical heritage of Turkey has a huge place in my designs. Especially in Studio Kali’s product collection my country's cultural heritage, craft traditions and natural geography are my key sources of inspiration.
Describe your creative process.
Designing is a search for balance and the way you balance different aspects changes from project to project, based on objectives, function, the brand, etc. Yet I can say that the most common aspect that I focus in all my designs is achieving a functional simplicity that is timeless and that forms an emotional bond with the user.
What are 3 words that best describe your work?

Where do you go for inspiration?
Nature and art! I love experiencing nature and all forms of art, particularly photography, sculpture and painting. For me experiencing nature and art is the entryway to inspiration.
