wohabeing x Luzerne

Hometown: Singapore

Based in: Singapore

In September 2017 WOHA launched their new design brand wohabeing at Maison & Objet Paris.

While wohabeing is a young brand, WOHA have been designing interior objects for over 20 years, in the context of their architectural projects.

wohabeing currently offers seven ranges, of which the Bintan and Ulu Collections feature pieces which evolved from WOHA projects, such as the acclaimed Alila Villas Uluwatu in Bali, Indonesia. The Oli, Sampan, Diaspora and Corak Collections feature new designs that were fully developed under the wohabeing brand.

wohabeing works with wonderful collaboration partners, who have excellent social and environmental sustainability credentials as well as superb craftsmanship and skills.

wohabeing collaborates with Wewood of Portugal on the Ulu Indoor and Bintan Collections (furniture and lighting), WonderGlass of London on the Oli Collection (lighting), and fellow Singaporean partners Industry+ on the Ulu Outdoor Collection (outdoor furniture), Luzerne on the Diaspora Collection (tableware), apaiser on the Sampan Collection (bathware) and The Rug Maker on the Corak Collection (rugs).

wohabeing is about living well by living simply and sustainably, and celebrating the beauty of the world. It is about making and craft, balance and proportion, and about texture, colour and form. We draw inspiration from the past, make connections to the rich tapestry of cultures we work within, and propose how we should live in the future.

Luzerne has been designing and creating bespoke fine china for the world’s most celebrated restaurants, hotels and chefs since 2004. They pioneered the creation of fine china without animal bone ash, and the Luzerne factory in Dehua is the first in the world to be Halal-certified.

Drawing on over 70 years of expertise from parent company Hiap Huat Holdings Pte Ltd, they became Singapore’s first tableware manufacturer to develop their own line of products in 2010. Today, Luzerne produces up to 28 million pieces of ceramic and stone tableware annually at their fully automated plant in Dehua — the birthplace of Blanc de Chine — named World Ceramics Capital by the World Crafts Council (WCC) in September 2015.

Recognized for their professional grade tableware, Luzerne is a major partner for the service and hospitality industry, and an official award sponsor of the World Gourmet Summit (WGS) and Maison & Objet (M&O) Asia. With an extensive network of distributors worldwide, Luzerne ceramics have been commissioned by world-renowned tableware companies, museums, palaces and icons.

Luzerne’s international presence in over 50 countries is supported by 800 employees in five global offices in the UK (London), China (Shanghai, Xiamen, Dehua), and their headquarters in Singapore. Luzerne tableware is used in restaurants and hotels globally, and can also be experienced in the skies with Singapore Airlines.
