Element Art Space, located at the historic Raffles Hotel, is a training ground and place of exchange to many innovative and emerging artists from the region—especially Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore. The gallery opened in Singapore five years ago and has been the proud venue for groundbreaking exhibitions. Their inaugural exhibition featured 33 international painters and sculptors, and it was the first time some of these pieces were unveiled to the Singapore public—the marble sculpture by Fernando Botero and gold-plated sculpture by Marc Quinn to name a few. They also held the largest Indonesian contemporary art exhibition in any commercial space in 2010 called "Recent Art from Indonesia: Contemporary Art Turn,” showcasing 40 artists. The gallery offers residencies to a highly selected number of emerging artists from the region and continues to be the advocate for compelling and challenging contemporary works by today’s most exciting emerging and mid-career artists.
