FLG is a contemporary art gallery in the heart of Melbourne, located on Level 1 of the Nicholas Building at the corner of Flinders Lane and Swanston Street. The gallery has been championing the practices of emerging, mid-career and established Australian artists since its inception in 1989. The FLG stable is unified by a commitment to presenting high quality, exceptional artworks that demonstrate conceptual rigour, technical expertise and creative sensitivity. The breadth of practice by FLG artists incorporates digital media and large scale multi-media installation, as well as more traditional modes of creative representation.
Complementing its comprehensive year-long program of solo exhibitions, the gallery also produces critical catalogue essays and publications to supplement the works produced by each of its featured artists. FLG works closely with institutions, businesses, architects and curators to place artists’ works within major collections, secure public art commissions and to ensure their artists are reflected within the broader cultural landscape of awards and curated exhibitions.
With Director Claire Harris at the helm since 2006, FLG is committed to presenting its artists in a professional & enlightening manner, nurturing the passions of both new and seasoned art buyers alike.
