The aim of TS1 Gallery is to enhance the reputation of artists and encourage creative concepts coming out of Myanmar today. Focusing on contemporary art mediums such as design, performance, craft, and photography, the gallery will hold up to 7 exhibitions in one year and feature up to 15 artists from all over Myanmar. The gallery will also invite international artists to participate in the projects and collaborate with local artists.
By publishing multilingual exhibition catalogues, critical writings, and hosting an active online community, we will integrate local scholars, critics, and historians in an ongoing dialogue with today’s contemporary artists, as well as engage with the audience of the of the general public by hosting not-for-profit activities and workshops.
The gallery hopes to invite local and international institutions into (or as part of) the exhibitions, so as to uphold a high standard not only of display and quality works, but historical reference and community participation.
