Alhambra under moonlight

Most of my geometric compositions are a combination of Arabic mosaics, Spanish-Muslim ornamentation of the Alhambra palace, in Granada, Spain and other parts of the Islamic world. I build complex paintings out of simple, recognizeable forms as I find simple ideas often the most productive ones to work with. If you begin with something clear and straightforward, then you can enrich it in complex and surprising ways and not lose sight of what you are trying to achieve. I am after beauty in complexity but complexity made from simple elements.
