About the art
Artist statement
‘Lucky’ is the latest exhibition from Australian Artist and Textile Designer Chris Chun, which features the 12 animals of the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Each animal combines traditional Asian symbolism with contemporary Western sensibilities to bring good fortune, health and happiness to their owner.
The first in the Chinese Zodiac, the Rat represents wisdom. They have excellent taste, are a good friend and are generous and loyal to others considered part of its pack.
Rats are also hard workers and have the best chance of being wealthy and professionally successful, out of all the zodiac signs.
