About the art
Artist statement
In this series, I explore the quiet transformations of nature—moments when its forms slip from fresh vitality into softened, weathered stages. Like aging faces, dried petals, thorns, or sun-hardened textures bear stories of time, change, and resilience. The juxtaposition of the botanical world and the life-like presence of these forms inspired the name “Herbarium. Creatures”. The title reflects my fascination with flora not only in their prime but in their fragile, transitional beauty—revealing how these natural elements can resemble portraits of life itself.
To bring these subjects to life, I observe the natural world closely, often discovering them during walks or moments spent in nature. Other times, I create them from plants I have at home, letting them reach certain stages like dryness or decay. Each carries a unique presence, as though holding a quiet narrative within—a balance of fragility and resilience, fleeting yet eternal.
