Artist statement
This is a close enough black and white portrait of a monkey or baboon, sorry I'm not a biologist ahahahaha. Very charismatic look of the animal towards the sunlight. The painting is cotrast and characteristic, dark in color but at the same time filled with light. I want to look at the animal's face, what is it thinking? Where is it looking? In her portrait for me there are character traits such as impudence and boldness, confidence and knowledge of what she wants. The animal truth of desire. It seems like it's about to take what it wants.....
