Artist statement
The photo was taken in Ukraine, in the city of Kharkiv in 2023.
My model for this shoot was a duck. It was a sunny day, so the sunlight created a great outline, and the moment I took the shot I knew immediately what kind of picture I was going to make of it.
After taking more than two hundred shots, I chose the most successful ones, where the duck seems to be posing for me personally. And then I removed all the unnecessary noise that distracts the viewer from the elegant bird.
I made the picture dark specially to emphasize the silhouette of the bird which was drawn by the sun rays themselves, the duck raised its head from the water so you can see the small splashes of water flying off its beak. I also left a slight reflection in the water. All this I achieved with the help of my computer and graphic tablet and my hands that drew on top of the photo.
