Artist statement
This artwork is part of the Color Field Painting series, focusing on flat, abstract forms and minimal compositions, using Japanese Sumi-e technique (different washes of ink and mineral pigments). In Jacob’s Ladder I used swirls to interpret the energetic flow of this archetypal ‘step by step upwards movement’.
